Getafe sack coach Michel after the deplorable start of the La Liga season

MADRID, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) – Michel Gonzalez became the second manager to lose his job in the La Liga on Monday when he was sacked from bottom-up Getafe.

Getafe have achieved only one point out of 24 possible with 7 defeats and a draw in eight games of the current season.

That draw came on Sunday, when Getafe held Real Sociedad 1-1 at home, but it wasn’t enough to save the manager from the sack just eight games in his second spell at the club.

Getafe president Angel Torres had previously defended Michel, but on Sunday a section of the crowd again asked for the coach’s sack, but ultimately succumbed to pressure.

Former Atletico Madrid and Valencia manager Quique Sanchez Flores, who previously also coached Getafe, is the current favorite to be named as his replacement.

Earlier in the day, Paco Lopez also paid off for a poor start to the current season when he was sacked third by bottom-placed Levante after just four draws in eight games.

“It really hurts, but I know the world we move into,” said Lopez who greeted the club at a press conference where he was supported by several club players and his family.
